The initial goal of the estate planning process is to create a Will to ensure the orderly distribution of your assets upon your death to those persons whom you wish to designate as beneficiaries. The Will shall also name the legal fiduciaries (ie: executor, trustee) who will be responsible for your estate.

The plan will also consider possible life contingencies. Ancillary documents such as Power of Attorney designations and Health Care Representative designations may be in order for these contingencies. Together, these pieces constitute an overall plan which will protect your interests and your family.

This process may also address related issues such as Federal Estate Taxes, Local Taxes and probate costs. The Plan may include recommendations intended to minimize taxes and expenses to the extent that it is reasonably possible to do so. The recommendations may include the creation of Trusts.
